The mission of the Dyslexia Tutoring Program is to teach low-income children and adults with dyslexia or a language-based learning difference to read. This is accomplished through
a professional screening
assessment and
tutoring by volunteers
whom we have
trained in The
Orton-Gillingham
method of reading,
writing, and spelling.

Student Re-Screening
Dyslexia Tutoring Program participants are re-screened after receiving 60-hours of one-on-one tutoring to determine how much progress has been made. Our Tutor Support Coordinator will contact the parent guardian or adult student to arrange a time to come in for a re-screening. Most participants show a 1 to 2 grade level of improvement. After a participant is re-screened tutoring continues for as long as they feel it’s needed.
